A different perspective.  While we were ziplining a company was taking photos.   It was cool because they shot us with Cascade Lake behind us.  Unfortunately it was a hazy day and not clear because of smoke from the California fires.  Gives a great idea of what our view was though.

I can say I’m not sad to be done with my old phone. It was a pile! Many people that I’ve seen with it have shared the same sentiments.

I’m so excited about my new iPhone. It all starts with now having an iPod and qwerty keyboard. The fact that I’m writing my wordpress blog on it shows the potential.

I have a feeling that my brother inlaw is going to appreciate not having random phone calls that my old phone made.

Recreating

Wednesday, July 16th, 2008

After getting back from the Salmon trip it was a few days in Boise and then it was off to recreate in the northern part of Idaho.  Back to where it all began.  Since being back it has been more recreating….

I wanted to capture some of the memorable moments while they were fresh in the mind.

We were off from the get go.  We headed to Spokane to pick up the St. Louis boys at the airport.  We rolled into Sandpoint at about 3 in the morning.

Day 1- We hiked up Schweitzer mountain the local ski hill.  We decided to scale straigth up the mountain and the view was amazing.  The pics were amazing.  Emphasis on the were….   Afterwards we hit the beach for some sand volleyball and an entertaining dinner at one of the local eateries appropriately titled “Spuds”.  It then turned into a late night at one of the “classier” night spots.  This of course led to a rough morning for me.

Day 2 was the fourth of July and we started off with some golf.  Like I said earlier it was a rough morning.  Must have caught something the night before:)  We headed back and cruised the lake and grabbed some dinner.  Threw in some quick toobing as the sun set.  The ride was amazing!  Heading into the sunset and the fireworks!.  Nothing like Neil Diamond’s Coming to America playing over the speakers as we sped across the lake where people were shooting mortars all over the place.

Day 3 was the big lake day.  We headed out and jumped off some rock cliffs at Green Bay.  I love that place and have spent a lot of time out there taking in the view.  The classic was when we went to the higher part of the cliffs.  After jumping off over a tree on the lower part you would think that this would be much easier.  Yet, I wasn’t feeling comfortable on the rocks.  Nothing better than a bunch of little kids below yelling “You suck”.  They didn’t realize I was a teacher though and could take the best they had to offer.  And yes the anticipation ended up being a lot more stressful than the actual jump.  We cruised and threw in some surfing and then hit dinner on the lake which led to meeting up with a pub crawl on the lake after the “bait” came over to rope us into the group.  It was definitely a fun night.

Day 4 was actually pretty tame as we drove south through most of Idaho and were hooked up with one of Colt’s buddies at his “cabin’.  It was a night of pool and staring at the stars from the hot tub.

Day 5 was back to the recreating life as we did eight ziplines.  It was awesome after the first one.  I didn’t quite get it and everyone had a good laugh as I held myself up on the rope and had my legs doing a run as if that would hold me up.  Gravity and the harness is definitely the way to go!  We finished off the day with wakeboarding and surfing on lake cascade.  It was a great end to the day.  Unfortunatley tragedy struck as we lost one of our camera cards.  Luckily we have tons of pictures to cover the trip.

Somewhere in there was shooting off mortars(and blowing up a mortar a foot off the ground) and a lot of other adventures.  It was a trip!

Working on getting some pics and videos up in the near future.

definitely, maybe

Watched the movie definitely, maybe tonight.  Really enjoyed it.  There is something about a story where you know the present and you see all of the moments that got you to that point.  The interactions and experiences that defined and shaped the journey and has brought us to our current destination.

It is interesting to look back and see the moments in my life that have brought me to the present.  The good and the bad.  They all come together to define the present and who I am at this moment.

What I find even more fascinating is how we don’t even know how the here and now is impacting our future.  It is a bunch of puzzle pieces and we don’t have a picture to show what the great artwork will be at the end.

Sometimes I just love the clickity clack of the keys late at night.  It helps when you have watched something and it just gets your mind in a state of wonderment…
